Moab 1/2 Marathon

MOAB! This was the perfect getaway from the winter and to enjoy some sun and fun with family! My mom, my sister Tiff, and I ran the Moab Canyonlands half marathon. Even though my mom had a hurt back, my sister had a hurt foot, and I had major cramping hamstrings, we all finished strong! My mom even got 2nd in her age group (only 30 seconds behind number one!). Some day I'll be like her :) I finished in 1:45.

Finishing the race! I just waved to the camera (above) but it looks like a weird arm pose :)

The clan: Tay, Me, Grandpa, Tiff, Brian, Mom, Dad, and Aubs

We look like superheros! :)

Don't fall Tay!

If you look real close you can see Aubs and I

Tay went mountain biking and road biking too! What a fun place with so much to do!

"Parade of the Elephants" in Zion...can you see them?

oh so hot!
Uncle Steve was so nice to let us stay at his condo

Going home we pass "Colton" Utah...really it's a small town of maybe 2 or 3 buildings...

We ran the Rex Lee Run and had so much fun together! This has got us excited for other plans of running and biking more together this summer. We are planning on either doing a triathlon together or a century bike race...or who knows, maybe both?!

Free bread! (just don't eat too much)

Something I read today that really struck me and wanted to share...
If we wait for the moment when everything, absolutely everything, is ready, we shall never begin.

- Ivan Turgenev, novelist, poet, playwright

Living within today

Sometimes it seems like we're always putting off our goals until some vague time in the future called "Once". "Once the New Year rolls around...", "Once the baby arrives...", "Once I have my new job...", "Once I retire...", "Once the kids are in school...", "Once the kids are OUT of school...". Sound familiar? By waiting for Once to get here, we waste time and frustrate our desire to do what we really want. It's a fact of life that every time one potential distraction disappears, it's quickly replaced with a new one. There will always be something that can stand in your way - if you let it. Ask yourself: are these distractions real reasons, or just good excuses for putting something off? Goals cannot be started in the future. The laws of time and nature dictate that you can only act in the present. You are here, today. So are your goals. The only good time to start is right now.

House of the Lord

The Draper Temple is gorgeous! I'm so glad we were able to go to the openhouse with all my family. I loved the beautiful coloring and chandeliers etc, but even more wonderful was being with my family in such a sacred and holy place all together. I am so grateful for the knowledge we have of the importance of temples and eternal families.
